Santee Resident Catherine Simpson Dies at 61
She spent much of her life doing various volunteer work.
Santee resident Catherine "Cathy" Simpson died May 18, according to a recent obituary in the Union Tribune.
Born in Winthrop Harbor, IL, she moved to Santee in the 1980s and worked at General Dynamics and Qualcomm. Catherine did a lot of volunteer work, especially helping at the San Diego Community Senior Center, and crocheting robes for nursing home residents.
A football, baseball and NASCAR fan- she loved to watch the Cubs, Padres, Chargers and Jimmy Johnson!

A memorial was held at her home in Santee on May 24 and she will be laid to rest in Illinois.
