SANTEE, CA – A convicted child molester has been released in Santee, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department advised residents Tuesday.
In a message to Santee residents, Sheriff’s officials advised community members that Michael Bauer, a registered sex offender, has recently moved to Santee. Bauer was convicted of molesting a 7-year-old boy, a stranger to him, inside a fast food restaurant restroom in 2009.
He is now living on Prospect Avenue in Santee, according to officials. Bauer is not wanted by the Sheriff's Department at this time.
"This notification is not intended to induce fear; rather it is our belief that an informed community is a safer community," stated the message from the Santee Sheriff’s station. "Use of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass the subject or any other person will not be tolerated and may result in prosecution."
According to officials, Bauer, a former transient in San Diego, is a parolee under supervision of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. A parole officer monitors his movements through a GPS ankle bracelet.
Bauer is not allowed to have contact with anyone under the age of 18 or be in the vicinity of places where children gather such as schools, playgrounds, parks or movie theaters.
