EL CAJON, CA — A convicted sex offender attacked and tried to rob an elderly jogger last week in eastern San Diego County, police said Monday.

Ian Farmer, 41, a transient from San Diego, mugged a 73-year-old man who was jogging around 11 a.m. Friday in the area of Greenfield Drive and Mollison Avenue in EL Cajon, according to the El Cajon Police Department.

Farmer demanded $5, threatened to tase the man, grabbed his arm and reached for his wallet, El Cajon police Lt. Jeremiah Larson said.
