Council Represents: Santee Softball District Champions and Ms. Wheelchair California
The City Council recognizes outstanding citizens at each meeting.
At most meetings, the Santee City Council recognizes local individuals, organizations and teams that have done something outstanding. This meeting included a presentation of the for winning the 2011 District Championship and a proclamation recognizing Santee resident Corey Peterson as .
The Santee ASA 12U Gold All Star Softball Team was given certificates of commendation for taking first place at this year's Southern California "B" District Tournament and second at the State tournament in Lancaster. They are going on to Nationals!
The all stars were chosen from the Santee ASA Spring Recreation League and their record stands at a whopping 25-3.

The roster includes: Paige Bowler, Natalie Lovins, Taylor Briggs, Kendal Marinesi, Lulu McElhinney, Nikki Leggate, Lexi Chavarin, Alexis Herrera, Brooke Roberts, Sydney Vates, Alexis Reyes and Brooke Snyder.
Corey Peterson received her crown and sash at the 2011 Ms. Wheelchair California Pageant in April. As Ms. Wheelchair California 2011, Petersen will help promote awareness, educate and inform the public about disability issues, as well as the achievements of people with disabilities. She will also compete in the upcoming Ms. Wheelchair America 2011 competition, which will take place in August.

Her platform as a disabled spokesperson is rehabilitation through sports, which helped her after she was injured from a snowmobiling accident in February 2007.
Petersen's husband, First Luitenant Bradley Peterson, led the Pledge of Allegiance to kick off the meeting.
