Curfew Extended In Santee After Destructive Riots​ In Region

SANTEE, CA — The city of Santee extended a citywide curfew Monday in response to continued rioting and looting throughout the San Diego region. The curfew order will be in effect from 8 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The city also imposed a curfew Sunday night into Monday morning. The curfew "assisted in the safe and peaceful response to two large gatherings in Santee," according to city officials.

"The extension of the curfew will help in keeping the community of Santee safe while protecting our residents and local businesses," the city said in a statement. "We are asking residents to please stay home and stay safe with your families."

People should not be out on public streets, officials said. Only people traveling to and from work, seeking medical care or experiencing an emergency situation are exempt from the curfew.
