The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County fell today for the 26th consecutive day, dropping a half-cent to $3.635, its lowest amount since Feb. 24.

The average price is 6.5 cents less than one week ago and 21.7 cents lower than a month ago, but 43.6 cents more than a year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has fallen 22.2 cents over the past 26 days, including 1.7 cents on Sunday.

The decreasing prices are the result of lower demand, which is typical for the fall, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
