Deputies Fatally Shoot Knife-Wielding Man In Alpine
San Diego County Sheriff's deputies shot and killed a knife-wielding man during a confrontation at an apartment complex, authorities said.

ALPINE, CA – San Diego County Sheriff's deputies shot and killed a knife-wielding man during a confrontation at an East County apartment complex, authorities said Tuesday.
The shooting was reported just before 3 p.m. Monday at 2660 Alpine Boulevard, San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Michael Blevins said.
"One of the callers indicated there was a subject yelling that he wanted to kill someone," Blevins said.

A man in his 30s left an apartment with a knife in his hand and moved toward the deputies, he said. "As a result and fearing for their safety, a deputy involved shooting occurred."
The deputies rendered first aid and called paramedics who pronounced him dead at the scene at 3:19 p.m., Blevins said.

"More than one deputy was involved in the shooting," he said. The deputies were not injured.
The deputy involved shooting was under investigation by sheriff's homicide detectives, Blevins said.
