Fido Fest 2018: Save the Date -- Your Dog Will Thank You
Contests for best look-alikes, best tricks and more, plus a doggie cake walk and agility course, planned at the upcoming Santee event.
SANTEE, CA – The City of Santee is hosting its third annual pooch extravaganza -- Fido Fest -- on Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Town Center Community Park East, 550 Park Center Drive.
“This is a can’t-miss event for all dog lovers who want to give themselves and their pets a special treat,” said Special Events Supervisor Bree Humphrey. “You’re guaranteed a fun experience whether you have four legs or two.”
The event will include such contests -- with prizes! -- dog-owner look-a-like, best trick and best tail-wagging, plus a doggie cake walk.

San Diego Flyball will set up an agility course where dogs can compete for treats, along with demonstrations by dog trainers from Behavior Buddie, guide dogs for the blind and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit.
Also at the fest will be giveaways, exhibitors and booths for dog services and accessories.

Attendees can also purchase tickets for an opportunity drawing that will benefit Dogs on Deployment, a nonprofit that recruits volunteers to care for the pets of military service members who are deployed or have assignments that separate them from their pets.
Looking to adopt a pup? More than a dozen adoption agencies will be on hand, along with microchip services and where to find discounted vaccinations and flea treatments.
Pooch owners can pose for pictures with their pets at a photo booth sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union, plus a portrait artist will sketch caricatures of your canine buddies.
