Grease Fire Closes Down Sonic Drive In Temporarily

A grease fire at the caused traffic delays this morning.

The fire started around 7 a.m. this morning, creating a slight delay for morning commuters.

After employees reported the grease fire, firefighters from , Lakeside and El Cajon put out the flames, according to a press release from the city.

“Because of early detection and quick action by Sonic employees, coupled with rapid response from Santee firefighters, who arrived at the scene in four minutes, damage was limited and minor,” Santee stated in a press release.

Damage was limited to the kitchen area and according to one employee, the restaurant should be open later this evening.
