Gusty Winds Forecast for East County

An advisory for the mountains and deserts should remain in effect through Wednesday.

EAST SAN DIEGO COUNTY -- Gusty winds are expected to develop in parts of San Diego County on Dec. 6.

A National Weather Service wind advisory for the mountains and deserts will remain in effect from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. Wednesday. Winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour and gusts of 50 to 60 mph will be possible throughout the advisory period.

``A low pressure system moving from the Pacific Northwest into the Great Basin will bring stronger onshore flow across Southern California with periods of stronger and gusty west winds for the mountains and deserts from late this morning through late tonight,'' according to the weather service.

The winds may make for hazardous driving conditions, especially for motorists in high-profile vehicles. Forecasters said blowing sand and dust in the deserts would affect visibility.
