SANTEE, CA – UPDATE, FRIDAY, AUG. 5, 4:40 p.m. – A man holed up inside an East County home this afternoon following a domestic dispute and refused to surrender to deputies, leading to a standoff with a SWAT team.
The family disturbance in the 9900 block of Woodglen Vista Drive in Santee was reported shortly after 2 p.m., according to sheriff's officials.
After the suspect, whose name was not immediately available, refused repeated orders to come out of the house and speak with patrol personnel, a special weapons and tactics squad was called in.

Deputies were called to the home just after 2 p.m. after reports of a family dispute, and a man inside the home possibly armed with weapons, the department said.
"Deputies from the Santee Sheriff's Station, Lakeside Sheriff's Substation, Special Enforcement Detail (SED/SWAT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) are working to resolve the situation in a peaceful manner," the agency said. " You might hear a sheriff's helicopter or ASTREA flying overhead and patrol cars making announcements urging the suspect to surrender peacefully. If you live in the neighborhood, STAY INSIDE. Please avoid the area if you can."

The standoff continues into the late afternoon.

– San Diego County Sheriff's deputies and a SWAT team this afternoon are on the 9900 block of Woodglen Vista Drive in Santee, according to sheriff's officials.
Residents and those in the area were requested by law enforcement shortly after 4 p.m. to "stay indoors" during the standoff.
