Man Struck And Killed Crossing San Diego Street: Cops

A pedestrian was not in a crosswalk when a car struck him, police say.

CHULA VISTA, CA — A pedestrian died after being struck while crossing a street, the Chula Vista Police Department said. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time of they were struck.

At 6:14 p.m. Monday, a Toyota Camry was driving near the 1000 block of Industrial Boulevard when the driver struck the unidentified man.

"The person was crossing Industrial Boulevard from west to east outside of a crosswalk," Chula Vista Police stated.

The Camry driver was traveling northbound on Industrial Boulevard when the pedestrian was struck, according to the statement.

The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene, police said. His identity was not immediately disclosed, pending notification.

The Camry driver, a 44-year-old man who resides in San Ysidro, remained at the scene and cooperated with police and alcohol or drug impairment was not suspected to be a factor in the collision.

The CVPD Traffic Bureau was called to the scene to investigate the collision.
