Retiree Pepper Sprays Medics At Santee Senior Living Facility

SANTEE, CA — A Santee woman mistook first responders as burglars and pepper sprayed them late Sunday, San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.

Medics and sheriff's deputies arrived at The Pointe at Lantern Crest Senior Living facility, located at 8549 Graves Avenue, shortly before midnight to help the woman, according to San Diego County Sheriff's Department and ABC10 News reports.

"The woman had called to report an attempted break-in," news reports stated, then fired the pepper spray as emergency officials came to her aid.

The deputies "calmed the situation down," and no serious injuries occurred.
