The rider was ejected from the motorcycle onto the roadway, according to the CHP.

WINTER GARDENS, CA — A man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash with a car late Sunday night in San Diego's East County, authorities said.

The 30-year-old motorcyclist was headed south on Winter Gardens Boulevard, north of Lemon Crest Drive, in the unincorporated Winter Gardens community near Lakeside, according to the California Highway Patrol. At the same time, a 31-year-old woman in a Toyota Prius was headed eastbound from a private driveway onto Winter Gardens Boulevard.

For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the car made an illegal left turn from the driveway, causing the front of the Harley Davidson to crash into the left side of the Toyota, CHP Officer Jasmine Lopez said.
