Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver In East County

LEMON GROVE, CA — A pedestrian was stuck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Wednesday, authorities said.

The crash happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of College Avenue and Federal Boulevard in Lemon Grove, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, a pickup truck struck a pedestrian crossing the intersection," Sgt. Kenneth Seel said.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, Seel said. His identity was not released.

Anyone with information was asked to call the San Diego Crime Stoppers' anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
