Pedestrian Fatally Struck On I-8 In El Cajon
The 21-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, according to the California Highway Patrol.
EL CAJON, CA — An Arizona man was killed while walking onto a highway in San Diego's East County, authorities said Tuesday.
The fatal crash happened around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, when the pedestrian walked in front of a 2021 Toyota Venza that was headed westbound on Interstate 8 in El Cajon, according to the California Highway Patrol. The pedestrian was coming from Mollison Avenue.
"For reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian was walking within the roadway, in low-lighting, and the driver of the Toyota collided with the pedestrian," CHP officials said in a news release.

The 21-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. The driver of the Toyota, a 49-year-old man, was not injured.
Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash, according to the CHP.
