Pedestrian Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash In East County

The driver of the Audi fled on foot in an unknown direction, according to the CHP.

SPRING VALLEY, CA — A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in San Diego's East County, authorities said Tuesday.

The deadly crash happened at 10:53 p.m. Monday on eastbound state Route 94, west of Old Campo Road in Spring Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 48-year-old man from Lemon Grove was driving a blue 2016 Audi A4 on SR-94 when he struck a pedestrian who was walking southbound in the eastbound lane, Officer Jared Grieshaber said.

"For reasons still under investigation, the front of the Audi A4 struck the pedestrian," Grieshaber said.

The pedestrian, a 65-year-old man, died at the scene, Grieshaber said. The driver of the Audi fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run was asked to contact the El Cajon Area CHP office at 619-401-2000.
