Person 'Deliberately Lying' In Street Struck By Vehicle

The Monday night incident was near Santee Lakes.

SANTEE, CA – An individual, suspected of purposefully lying in the street, was seriously injured when hit by a car Monday night near Santee Lakes, according to officials.

Deputies from the Santee Sheriff's Station Traffic Unit responded at 10:55 p.m. to the collision near Carlton Oaks Drive and Darcy Court, said San Diego County Sheriff's Sgt. James Golembiewski.

"It appears the pedestrian may have been deliberately lying on the roadway before being struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Carlton Oaks Drive," he said.

The vehicle's driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, while the victim, whose name, age and gender was not disclosed, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, Golembiewski said.
