Students investigated moon craters, created mini rockets, and showed off science projects to the community at the Carlton Oaks PTA Science Night on Friday, and the volunteers with Momentum Tutoring helped make it possible.

With the help of Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, about a dozen Momentum Turoring volunteers, and the help of parents, ten science activities, a book fair and a food fundraiser were made available to hundreds of students and their families.

Momentum Tutoring is a local nonprofit that was established by a local teacher to supplement the academic needs of Santee and surrounding communities. Homework clinics, private tutoring, educational consultation and summer programs are available, as are tutoring programs for students with special needs. Grants and donations to Momentum Tutoring allow them to provide financial assistance and "scholarships" to those who would otherwise not be able to afford tutoring services. Momentum Tutoring volunteers lend a helping hand at many Santee school events.
