Pitching Prevails as West Hills Beats Santana 1-0
Cameron Howell strikes out seven and Patrick Estey drives in the game-winner for the Wolf Pack.
Lefthander Cameron Howell struck out seven and West Hills High scratched out a run in the sixth inning without getting the ball out of the infield in a 1-0 victory over intracity rival Santana on Wednesday in the Bill Dickens East County Tournament.
The visiting Wolf Pack scored the game's lone run on a leadoff walk to D.J. Lewis, who stole second and advanced to third on a groundout. Patrick Estey then singled sharply off the pitcher's leg to bring home Lewis. The Sultans avoided further damage by turning a line-drive double play with the bases loaded.
Howell pitched into the sixth, with Jarrod Rowson finishing up for the save. Chris Carmada threw five strong innings for Santana.
