Santana Advances in Baseball Playoffs; West Hills Out
Sultans eliminate University City and now visit top-seeded Cathedral Catholic; Wolf Pack falls to Bonita Vista.

It’s been a long season for the Santana High baseball team, which was not sure it would even qualify for postseason play. But once the Sultans got the “green light” to participate in the San Diego Section Division III play-in round, they came out swinging. And pitching. And fielding.
Sultans senior Jaylen Fleer pitched five shutout innings in relief to pick up his fourth win in eight decisions as Santana eliminated host University City 7-1 in Tuesday’s playoff action.
Catcher Cameron Balough belted a two-run home run, staking Santana (11-17-1) to a 2-0 first-inning lead it would not lose.
