Santana Blanks Monte Vista; Valhalla Downs West Hills

Sultans move to 9-1 with 46-0 rout of Monarchs while Norsemen end two-game slide with 33-17 win.

Landon Lozoya scored on a 5-yard pass from Kyle Gasner and a 52-yard punt return in the first quarter Friday night to spur Santana High to a 46-0 whitewashing of host Monte Vista.

The Sultans ended their regular season at 9-1 and 3-1 in the Grossmont Valley League. With a bye next week, Santana, which posted four shutouts, can start prepping for the San Diego Section Division IV playoffs, where unbeaten Madison, league rival Mount Miguel and North County power Valley Center await.

Spencer Love and Jeffrey Person also had touchdowns as the Sultans built a 31-0 halftime lead. Jareth Raymond (1 yard) and Garrett Hath (53 yards) had touchdown runs in the final quarter.

Monte Vista (1-8, 0-3) plays at El Cajon Valley next week in its regular-season finale.

Junior Warren Preston caught three touchdown passes from Frank Foster as the Norsemen (6-3, 2-2) stopped a two-game Grossmont Hills League losing streak.

Preston's scoring plays covered 82, 34 and 26 yards. Foster threw for more than 200 yards and had four touchdowns passes in all. Kyle Quarles added a TD on a 61-yard jaunt.

West Hills (2-7, 1-3) was led by Ryan Williams, who had 80 yards rushing and added seven receptions for another 100 yards. He and Justin Lepisi had the Wolf Pack touchdowns.
