PHOTOS: Santana National Edges Brawley 1-0 to Stay Alive

A one-out walk-off home run by Christian Mendez in the bottom of the sixth sets up a rematch with Park View Little League on Tuesday.

Christian Mendez broke up a pitchers' duel with a walk-off home run with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning Monday night, keeping Santana National alive in the Little League Section 7 playoffs.

SNLL thus earns another shot at Park View of Chula Vista, which beat Santana 8-2 on Saturday. Even with a win tonight in the 6:30 p.m. game at the Fletcher Hills Little League field, SNLL would have to defeat unbeaten Park View again on Wednesday to advance to the Southern Cal regionals. Park View won the Little League national and world championship in Williamsport, PA, in 2009.

Tristen Salinas, Christian Mendez, Jerry Alesi and Colton Calvert combined on the three-hit shutout over Brawley, who also received a fine pitching effort from A.J. Grijalva, who had the SNLL batters flailing at some tough curves and change-ups.
