Santana Routs West Hills 42-7 in Santee Cup Battle

Landon Lozoya hauls in eight passes for 201 yards and a TD and adds a 51-yard punt return for a score as the Sultans romp.

After being roughed up nine times in 10 years by crosstown rival in the annual , the finally dug in their heels last year.

Santana snuffed out the Wolf Pack in the 2010 season opener and pulled off a repeat performance Friday night on the blue field of West Hills. Talk about feeling blue . . . the Wolf Pack watched as the visiting Sultans stormed to a 28-0 halftime lead and continued on to a 42-7 victory to claim the rivalry cup for the second year in a row.

“It feels good to have bragging rights for another year,” said Santana senior receiver Landon Lozoya. “They had a pretty long streak going against us, so it feels good to start a streak of our own against them."

Lozoya caught eight passes for 201 yards including a 14-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Kyle Gasner. Lozoya also scored on a 51-yard punt return that gave Santana a 14-0 edge after one quarter.

Gasner finished with 325 yards passing as he completed 13 of 25 aerial attempts for the Sultans. He also scored on a 1-yard rush.   Tyler Weiss, Garrett Hath and Spencer Love contributed a touchdown apiece to the Santana coffers.

West Hills avoided a shutout when Stephan Salaz returned a punt 38 yards for a TD with 6:45 remaining. He also led the Pack with five receptions for 56 yards.
