Santana, West Hills Win Openers in Softball Playoffs

West Hills High was a 4-2 winner over Mt. Carmel in the first round of the San Diego Section Division II softball playoffs on Friday, while Santana beat Monte Vista 3-1 in Division III.

Both Santee schools move on to the winner's bracket of the playoffs, with West Hills hosting Westview High at 1 p.m. and Santanta hosting Cathedral Catholic, also at 1.

Spring Valley's Monte Vista visits San Dieguito Academy in a loser's bracket game at 10 a.m. Saturday.
