Hello Santee! After months of anticipation, Handel's Homemade Ice Cream is now open in town! With a special friends and family night on Wednesday, they rolled right into the first full day of business with long lines and excited customers. A special thanks to local resident, Jennifer Johnson, as she allowed me to "borrow" this picture of her adorable kids from yesterday. Her eldest child (Dominic) was a student of mine at Guardian Angels and I still enjoy seeing him around town or just enjoying family moments like these.   I realized, meeting the owner of the store, how incredibly personal this process can be. He doesn't want the delays, he doesn't want the setbacks... he wants a perfect store ready to greet and serve customers with their great product. I think it's easy for us as consumers to be selfish and just be annoyed at the uncontrollable, but I'm reminded that patience is a virtue and this enhancement to our community was well worth the wait. I hope you feel the same, treat this new staff with kindness, and enjoy some great ice cream soon.
