Santee Lakes Fishing Report: Bluegill Worcestershire Recipe

WEEK OF: April 8, 2013

CATFISH:

This past Thursday lakes 3, 6 and 7 were all stocked with Catfish. Lakes 6 and 7 are exclusive to campers only. These two lakes tend to yield larger fish as there are not fished as heavily as lakes 1 through 5. Make your Lakefront Camping or Cabins reservations today at www.Santeelakes.com

Quentin Ivy from San Diego caught a 3 lb. 1 oz. Tagged Catfish out of lake 3 and won a rod and reel combo.

Muok Un caught a 2 lb. Tagged Catfish and also walked away with a rod and reel combo.

25 Tagged Catfish are still swimming in lakes 3 and 4 just waiting to be caught. Some of the prizes include fishing gear, free fishing permits, free camping trips, etc…

TROUT:

Just because we are done stocking Trout for the Season doesn’t mean the fish aren’t there.

Ken Hallin found that out while throwing a rapala for Bass in lake 4 and a 6 lb. Trout took a bit. Ken landed the monster but not after it snapped his Bass Pro Shops Rod.

BASS:

The Bass bite is phenomenal! Lakes 1 and 2 have been the hot spots this past week. Try north or south lake 1 or the north end of lake 2. Drop shot, live nightcrawlers, creature baits and spinners all working.

Recipe of the Week: Bluegill Worcestershire Recipe

I figure if we start talking about Bluegill and get the recipe ready maybe they will show up.

Put one cup of flour into a zip-lock bag or bowl, add coarse ground pepper, and salt to your taste. Coat the Bluegill fillets completely with the flour mixture. Cook the fillets in a flat pan on medium heat with a little butter, or vegetable oil if you are calorie conscious. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side or until fillets are slightly brown. Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce, lemon and finely chopped parsley for the last minute of cooking. Put cooked fillets onto a dinner plate and pour the extra sauce over the top of each plate. Serve with rice, corn and a nice salad. Bluegills never tasted so good.
