EL CAJON, CA — A registered sex offender broke into a woman's East County home days after being released from jail, authorities said Tuesday.

The parolee entered the woman's apartment around 10:20 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of South Magnolia in El Cajon, according to the El Cajon Police Department. The man grabbed a purse before the woman confronted him. Her daughter called police as he fled their home.

"Officers found the suspect a short distance away," the department said in a news release. "The man had keys from the management office when the officers arrested him."
