Suspected DUI Driver Killed In Wrong-Way Crash In East County

The crash happened on the northbound side of state Route 125, just north of Jamacha Road​ in Spring Valley, according to the CHP.

SPRING VALLEY, CA — A woman suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol was killed over the weekend in a wrong-way crash in San Diego's East County, authorities said Monday.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. Sunday when the woman was driving south on the northbound side of state Route 125, just north of Jamacha Road in Spring Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol. The sedan struck a concrete bridge and a chain-link fence, then went off the freeway.

The woman, the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene of the accident, Officer Jared Grieshaber said. Her identity was not released.

"This is an ongoing investigation and alcohol and/or drugs is suspected to be a factor in this crash," Grieshaber said.
