3 Injured In Suspected DUI Crash Into East County Home

A driver and two passengers were injured in a suspected DUI crash in Lakeside, authorities said.

LAKESIDE, CA — A driver and two passengers were injured when their vehicle crashed into a house Monday morning in eastern San Diego County, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 3:05 a.m. on Winter Gardens Boulevard, south of Sterling Hill Lane in Lakeside, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 39-year-old man was driving a 2011 Buick Enclave with two passengers, a 37- year-old man and a 41-year-old man, CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber said.

"While driving southbound, the driver was unable to maintain control of the Buick and made an unsafe turning movement, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway," Grieshaber said.

The SUV overturned and crashed into a home at 9060 Winter Gardens Boulevard, Grieshaber said. The driver and passengers, all from El Cajon, suffered major injuries and were taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital.

"This is an ongoing investigation, and alcohol was a factor in this crash," Grieshaber said.
