Trout Re-Opener Coming This Weekend To Santee Lakes

SANTEE, CA — The annual Trout Re-Opener is slated this weekend at Santee Lakes.

Santee Lakes will be stocked with 3,000 pounds of rainbow trout for the two-day event, according to event organizers. There will be fish as large as 8 pounds in Lakes 4, 5 and 6. The lakes will also be stocked will lightning trout.

"This is a great family-friendly outdoor event," event coordinator Greg Even said. "Whether you're an avid angler or fishing for the first time, we hope you give Santee Lakes a visit."

The event is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 13-14 at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve at 9310 Fanita Parkway in Santee. On-site restaurant, Angry Pete's Pizza, will open at 6 a.m. both days.

Gate entrance is $7 per car. Permits cost $10 for adults and $6 for juniors and seniors. A second pole stamp is $4.
