Trout Season Kicks Off This Weekend At Santee Lakes
According to event organizers, 40 trout will be tagged for prizes from Phenix Rods.
SANTEE, CA — Trout season kicks off this weekend at Santee Lakes.
Santee Lakes will be stocked with 3,000 pounds of trout for the two-day Trout Season Opening Weekend, according to event organizers. There will be 500 pounds of lightning trout. All fish will be between .75 and 2.5 pounds.

Lakes 2, 3 and 4 will be closed to fishing Thursday and Friday. The lakes will reopen Saturday for the two-day Trout Opener.
The event is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, 9310 Fanita Parkway, Santee.

Gate entrance is $7 per car. Permits cost $10 for adults and $6 for juniors and seniors. A second pole stamp is $4. Permits can be purchased in advance at the General Store.
