Trout Season Opening Weekend Returns To Santee Lakes

SANTEE, CA — Trout season is back at Santee Lakes. Trout Season Opening Weekend is slated this weekend.

Santee Lakes will be stocked with 3,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout for the two-day event, according to event organizers. Campers-only lakes will each be stocked with 500 pounds of fish.

"This event is great for everyone, including families that want to spend some quality time together," event coordinator Greg Even said. "It's also perfect for sport fishermen because there will be some trophy fish included in the stock."

The event is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve, 9310 Fanita Parkway, Santee.

Gate entrance is $6 per car. Permits can be purchased in advance at the General Store. Permits cost $10 for adults and $6 for juniors and seniors. A second pole stamp is $4.
