Vehicle Crashes Into Pole, Causes Power Outage In East County
Hundreds of residents in the Bostonia neighborhood were left without power after a vehicle crashed into a power pole, according to the CHP.
EL CAJON, CA — A power outage cut off electrical service to more than 1,100 El Cajon-area homes and businesses Tuesday when a vehicle plowed into a utility pole, splitting it in half.
The crash occurred just after midnight in the 1700 block of North Second Street in the unincorporated Bostonia area, near Gillespie Field airport, according to San Diego Gas & Electric and the California Highway Patrol.
The accident left about 1,165 customers without electricity in that neighborhood, the eastern reaches of El Cajon and the Granite Hills area, the utility company reported.

Road closures were in effect along Second Street between Adobe Lane and Pepper Drive as crews worked to fix the damaged utility equipment and reactivate power in the area.
Repair personnel had electrical service restored to all of the affected neighborhoods as of shortly before 6 p.m., SDG&E reported.
