West Hills, Grossmont Golfers Finish 1-2 in Grossmont Hills Qualifier

Kirk Peterson of West Hills High was the low qualifier in Thursday's Grossmont Hills League individual finals tournament with a 4-over-par 76 at Carlton Oaks Country Club in Santee.

Matt Negri of Grossmont High and Steele Canyon's Kevin Cline were a shot back at 77, with Garrett Howell of Granite Hills (78) and Max Reynolds of Steele Canyon (79) also breaking 80.

Jorgeo Catolico of Mount Miguel took top honors in the Grossmont Valley League tournament at Barona Creek with a 5-over 77.

Although only the individual champions (Peterson and Catolico) from the GHL and GVL tourneys are guaranteed a spot in the CIF Individual and Team Championships at Coronado Golf Course on May 24 and 26, others top finishers will get the opportunity to compete and advance to the Southern California Regionals and California State Championship tournaments in early June based on their scoring average for the season.
