Wildfire 21% Contained In Dehesa Area Of San Diego County
A fast-moving wildfire that burned around 200 acres of brush near Sycuan Casino is now 21% contained, fire officials said Wednesday.
DEHESA, CA — A fast-moving wildfire that burned around 200 acres of brush near Sycuan Casino is now 21% contained, fire officials said Wednesday.
The blaze erupted for unknown reasons about 3 p.m. Tuesday off Sloane Canyon Road in the Dehesa area, moving toward some sparsely developed residential neighborhoods but away from the casino just south of Harbison Canyon, according to Cal Fire.
Within 45 minutes, the flames had charred about 25 acres and by 5:15 p.m. firefighters had halted the spread of the blaze at around 200 acres, the state agency reported.

Deputies closed sections of Dehesa Road, Sloane Canyon Road and Sycuan Truck Trail, and cleared people out of homes on the latter rural route as a precaution. The casino and resort complex were not evacuated.
All evacuation orders, evacuation warnings and road closures were lifted at 8 p.m.

No structural damage or injuries were reported.
Firefighters reached 10% containment at 8 p.m. and crews worked overnight to reach 21% containment by 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to Cal Fire.
