Woman Attacked While Walking In Santee

A man assaulted a woman Monday night as she was walking near the 8700 block of Cottonwood Avenue in Santee, officials said. (BREAKING)

SANTEE, CA – A man assaulted a woman Monday night as she was walking in her neighborhood in Santee, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect attacked the woman from behind and cut her shorts just after 9:30 p.m. near the 8700 block of Cottonwood Avenue, according to authorities. The victim, who suffered scratches to her body, was taken to a hospital and released later that night.

Because the woman was attacked from behind, she did not see her attacker.

Deputies from the Santee Sheriff's Station, as well as a Sheriff's helicopter searched the area but did not find the suspect. The assault is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the Santee Sheriff's Station at 619-956-4000 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. Tips may be submitted anonymously, and callers may be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to a felony arrest.
