1 Injured, 8 Displaced In Saratoga Fire

The blaze was Sunday morning at an apartment building on Fourth Street.

One person suffered minor burns and eight residents were displaced in a three-alarm apartment fire in Saratoga Sunday morning, according to the Santa Clara County Fire Department.

The incident was first reported at 9:49 a.m. in a four unit apartment building at 20810 Fourth Street, according to fire officials. The call generated a first-alarm response, but firefighters upgraded the incident to a three-alarm fire after finding heavy fire conditions at the back of a second story unit.

The fire quickly spread into the attic, according to Battalion Chief Jason Falarski.

The blaze was under control around 11 a.m. One resident suffered minor injuries, and was treated and released at the scene. The Red Cross was also on scene Sunday morning to assist residents displaced by the fire.

The building’s upstairs area sustained heavy fire damage, but the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
