Beer, Wine Sales on Saratoga City Council's Agenda Tonight

Annexation of about 223 acres of certain unincorporated islands will also be considered during 7 p.m. meeting at Civic Theatre/Council Chambers.

The Saratoga City Council meets at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 3, at the Civic Theatre/Council Chambers, 13777 Fruitvale Ave. to discuss the following: 

Ceremonial items:

  • Commendation for outgoing Saratoga Planning Commission member David Reis
  • Appointment of Tina Walia and Dede Smullen to serve four-year terms on the Saratoga Planning Commission ending April 1, 2017.

On the consent agenda, which allows the five-member body to approve items with one vote, are:

  • Association of Bay Area Governments POWER Pipeline capacity regulations
  • Select The Planning Center/DC&E as the consultant for Quarry Property Master Plan Development project and authorize City Manager Dave Anderson to enter into a professional service agreement with The Planning Center/DC&E in the amount of $249,631.

On the public hearing portion of the agenda are:

  • Zoning ordinance amendment allowing businesses to sell beer and wine as a permitted use under certain conditions; creating a new definition for alcoholic beverage and modifying the definition of retail establishment and market.
  • Annexation of approximately 223 acres of certain unincorporated islands; an amendment to the General Plan land-use map changing the land-use designation of the Quarry property to open space-outdoor recreation and adoption of an ordinance applying the Agricultural Preserve/Open Space, or AP/OS Overlay Zoning to property located at 22101 Mount Eden Rd.
  • Amendments to League of California Cities bylaws.
