It shows average interest rates for 30-year fixed-rate mortgages by decade being at 12.7 percent, 8.1 percent, 6.3 percent and 4.69 percent in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010, respectively.

The illustration then indicates the 2011 interest rate for such loans was 4.45 percent and then the lowest recorded number in September of 2012 at 3.47 percent.
The highest was recorded in October of 1981 at 18.45 percent. The information in the pictorial came from the Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey.
