Young Genius students Haritha Kumar placed 4th at the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah today June 17, 2016!

Today, June 17, 2016 Haritha Kumar finished 4th place in Impromptu Speaking at the National Championship held in Salt Lake City Utah. Haritha is a member of the Young Genius speech and debate program in Saratoga and attends Lawson Middle School as an 8th grader.

Haritha has had many successful results this year including winning the Stanford University tournament in Impromptu in January, 2016. This was particularly impressive because the Stanford Tournament is a tournament for high school students!

Young Genius Debate Director Don Heinsohn said he was not surprised to see Haritha with such a strong finish at the National Championship, saying "Haritha is one of our very strongest students and she is a star on our team. Haritha works very hard, she has a great positive attitude and this has paid off for her."
