"Illumination," conducted by Dr. David Vickerman, invites you to prepare for a sensory odyssey as the San Jose Wind Symphony presents a program dedicated to the transformative power of light. From the ethereal, shimmering dawn of John Mackey's Aurora Awakes to the visceral energy of Gabriela Lena Frank's Escaramuza, this performance captures the spectrum of human brilliance.
We are particularly honored to present the world premiere of the wind band transcription of Escaramuza, meticulously crafted by our own Artistic Director, Dr. David Vickerman.
This very special concert will be a preview of a recording session that the Wind Symphony will have the following week at Skywalker Sound, a world-renowned audio post-production facility owned by George Lucas, located at Skywalker Ranch in Marin. We are very excited about the opportunity to record using their top-class facilities and this Mother's Day concert will be a preview of pieces that will be recorded a week later. The concert would be a wonderful way to enjoy Mother's Day or honor that special woman in your life!
