Campbell Police Arrest Man Who Allegedly Entered Occupied Apartment

Transient Arthur Ramirez, 26, was arrested.

Police arrested a man Wednesday in Campbell, after he allegedly entered an apartment and was discovered by the woman who lived there.

Around 9:30 a.m., officers responded to 1845 S. Bascom Ave. for a report regarding a suspicious person who had entered an occupied apartment, according to police.

When officers arrived, officers learned the suspect fled the apartment when the resident confronted him, but had lingered in the area, police said.

Officers initially searched the area, but couldn’t locate the suspect. Shortly after, officers were notified the suspect was hiding in the Los Gatos Creek trail near State Highway 17, according to police.

Officers responded to the area and located a person matching the description. The victim was able to positively identify the man as the suspect who had been inside her apartment, police said.

Police identified the suspect as 26-year-old transient Arthur Ramirez. Officers arrested Ramirez on suspicion of residential burglary and being under the influence of a controlled substance, police said.

Police believe Ramirez matches the description of a suspect connected to a recent prowling incident that occurred on Union Avenue.
