Earth Stewardship Symposium Returns to West Valley College

The Symposium will explore issues of climate change and sustainability.

(Saratoga, CA) West Valley College will host the Global Citizenship and Sustainability Committees’ 3rd Annual Earth Stewardship Symposium, Thursday and Friday, April 21 and 22. The themes for this year’s symposium are climate change and sustainability and how communities and individuals around the world are reacting to changing environments.
Thursday, April 21, 2016
· 6:30 pm-8:00 pm in Fox 107, Screening of the Documentary “This Changes Everything
· 8:00 pm-9:00 pm a discussion of the film and Q&A.

Friday, April 22, 2016
· 9:00 am, Artist Newton Harrison, Co-founder of the Center for the Study of the Force Majeure at UC Santa Cruz.
· 10:15 am, Screening of Biomimicry film
· 10:45 am, Talk by Toby Hemenway, author of The Permaculture City, Regenerative Design for Urban, Suburban and Town Resilience
· 12:15 pm, BYO Lunch
· 1:00 pm, Screening of “The True Cost” documentary, as the price of clothing decreases, the human and environmental costs have grown dynamically
· 2:40 pm, Discussion led by Lynda Grose, co-founder of Esprit’s ecollection clothing

The event will be held in the Michael E. Fox Building, 14000 Fruitvale Avenue, Saratoga, 95070. Admission is free, open to students and the public. Free parking in lot 5.
