The individual was found during routine rounds.

An inmate at Santa Clara County Jail was found dead early Thursday, a sheriff’s office spokesman said today.
The inmate was found unresponsive around 12:30 a.m. by deputies conducting a routine welfare check, according to Sgt. James Jensen. Welfare checks are conducted either every hour or every half hour, depending on the area of the jail.
