Is Saratoga's J.H. Draperies in Business?

Yes, it is ... just owner says it's a one-man operation and sometimes he must close down the shop to go do estimates.

It's tough being the sole operator and owner of a business in any downtown ...

Evidence of this we found while walking along Big Basin Way and saw a note on closed J.H. Draperies & Interiors during weekday working hours that read:

"To my customers, yes, I'm still in business! Being a one-man store, I'm frequently out on installations or estimates. So please take a card and call me for a free estimate," wrote owner Joseph F. Hanlon, a.k.a. J.H. about his shop at 14577 Big Basin Way.

Near that sign was also a store wide sale notice in red letters.

The business' hours of operation are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

A voice message on the business' answering service says Hanlon is also available Monday afternoon, if necessary.

Hanlon has been in business for more than 60 years and said in the future, his shop will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday since Campbell-based The Carpet Center will move in and operate out of the same office.
