The nomination of Hunter and Councilwoman Emily Lo, as vice mayor, came after Saratoga City Clerk Crystal Bothelio declared the offices vacant.

Nominating Hunter was former mayor Chuck Page, whose motion was seconded by several colleagues and unanimously approved.

Administering the oath of office for Hunter was Democratic Assemblyman Paul Fong, who represents the 28th Assembly District.

Hunter then, in her first official duty as mayor, asked for vice mayoral nominations, but beat everyone to the punch by nominating Lo, which was also unanimously approved.

Administering the oath of office for Lo was Bothelio.

"I think Dennis is going to enjoy his bachelorhood," said Page about Hunter's husband, in his customary good-humored manner, to laughter from the audience.

Saratoga has an annually-rotated mayoral position. Page ended his one-year term Wednesday evening.
