Megan Queen is Saratoga Union School District 2013 Teacher of the Year

Educator is recognized for helping district develop transitional kindergarten program, among other accomplishments.

 

Argonaut Elementary School teacher Megan Queen has been selected as Saratoga Union School District Teacher of the Year.

"Megan is a champion of students, a model educator, and a caring professional. She brings joy, inspiration, and positive learning to all," the district said in a press release.

Queen was recognized for helping the district develop and implement its transitional kindergarten program, housed at Argonaut Elementary School.

Queen has taught kindergarten and first grade, the release stated.

"She is a leader and a learner. She is an innovator. Her classroom is a model classroom and provides deep insight into what 21st century learning looks like: inquiry, joyful learning, technology integration, imagination, exploration, choice, deepening understanding and thinking around areas of interest," the release added.

The educator was also lauded for her ability to build positive rapport and comfort for new transitional kindergarten parents.

Queen was also praised for serving as a common core state standards mentor, a member of the district leadership team, and a MARS scoring leader.

She will be honored for her achievements along with other educators during the Santa Clara County Office of Education Teachers of the Year awards banquet Sept. 26.
