My Close Encounter with a Coyote in Saratoga

I've had a few run-ins with wildlife in recent years including ones with sharks and mountain lions but the one that happened with a coyote on a Friday morning recently was too close for comfort.

As I was turning the corner during a run near West Valley College I saw a large coyote walking in the middle of the street. He froze as soon as I spotted him. He was on Dolphin Drive.

Like any good blogger, the first thing I did was get out my phone to take a picture. I took a few and then Mr. Coyote started chasing me!

I put the phone away and quickly started running down the street. He was still chasing me! So I ran in a couple of circles to confuse him which worked. He ran in the other direction and kept going, toward Quito Road.

I still ran as fast as I could down the street and went to someone's house to avoid being alone. A man was outside with his dog. I told the man my story and he said the coyotes don't like to be around people and not to worry.

The coyote would have left me alone had I not taken photos. He was minding his own business.

In any case, that was my last run-in with wildlife.  Have you had any interesting run-ins lately?
