New Saratoga Mayor, Vice Mayor Appointed Tonight

The Saratoga City Council meets tonight at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Civic Theatre/Council Chambers, 13777 Fruitvale Ave., to discuss the following:

• Reorganization event will include selection of new mayor and vice mayor and newly elected Council members Howard Miller and Manny Cappello will be sworn into office. Refreshments will be served.
• Commendation for departing library commissioner Sam McBane Mulford
• Appointment of Susan Calderon to the Saratoga Library Commission

On the consent agenda, which allows the five-member body to approve items with one vote, are:

• Fiscal year 2011-12 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, fiscal year 2011-12 Single Audit Report (Federal Grant Awards), the FY 2011-12 Transportation Development Act Report (California Grant Award), and the FY 2012-13 Appropriation Limit Report.
• AB1600 Development Impact Fee report for the year ended June 30, 2012
• Highway 9 safety improvement project phase II, budget adjustment
• Completion of Parker Ranch retaining wall repair
• Completion of citywide signal upgrade project phase I
• Completion of Saratoga Village pedestrian enhancement project
• Community Development Block Grant funded ADA compliant customer service counter at the Community Center, and authorization of city manager to approve the contract in the amount of $38,500 with a contingency of $3,850.

On the public hearing portion of the agenda are:

• Peter and Rita Redford are appealing a Saratoga Planning Commission decision approving a fence exception for a six-foot-tall wall within a front setback and an eight-foot-tall wall within the side setback at 19870 Mendelsohn Lane.
• Review of conceptual design for Saratoga Village streetscape improvements Phase 2
• City of Saratoga updated personnel rules and policies
• City Council agency and ad-hoc assignments for 2012-13
